Comedo Extraction

Comedo extraction is the process of extracting blackheads (open comedones) and whiteheads (closed comedones). It is commonly done by using gentle pressure around the pore opening, often applied using specialized comedo extraction loops. Comedo extraction may also involve small incisions, often made by a hypodermic needle tip.

Lancing

Lancing acne lesions involves making a small cut into the lesion and draining the accumulated pocket of pus. Lancing is generally only used as a treatment for large, inflamed acne nodules and cysts.

Punch Excision

Punch excision involves the surgical removal of small, depressed acne scars. For large, depressed acne scars the a graft of healthy skin tissue may be used to replace the excised tissue.

Needling

Micro-needling is a treatment intended to reduce the appearance of acne scars. It involves causing mild damage to the area of the scar via repeated penetration of the area by small needles. This can disrupt scar tissue, and the resulting healing response may repair some scar damage.

TCA Peel

A trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel is chemical peel used to remove the outer layers of the skin. It can be used to treat mild discoloration and scarring caused by acne.
